Senior Concert Band

Open to any grade 11 or 12 student who has completed grade 10 instrumental music.  Rehearsals take place after school every Wednesday from 2:30-3:40 pm in room 1303.

Junior Concert Band

Director:  Ms. Merritt

Open to any grade 9 or 10 music student enrolled in experienced instrumental music (either semester).  Rehearsals take place after school every Monday from 2:30-3:30 pm in room 1303.

Jazz Band

Director:  Ms. Merritt

Open to any grade 10, 11, or 12 music students enrolled in instrumental music.  Rehearsals take place after school every Wednesday from 3:45-4:15 pm (following the Senior Band rehearsal).

Concert Choir

Director:  Mrs. Marcus

Open to any music or non-music student in any grade who loves to sing; no previous choir experience is required.  Rehearsals take place after school every Tuesday from 2:30-3:40 pm in room 2305.

Pop Choir

Director:  Ms. Semple

Pop choir is a great way to sing the popular songs you love with other like minded and talented musicians at HHSS. This is a pop ensemble made up of auditioned singers and instrumentalists. Auditions are held at the beginning of September and again in January. Rehearsals take place after school on Thursdays from 2:30-3:40 p.m. in Room 2305.  As a singing member of the group, you would not be required to know how to read sheet music, but it is helpful. Singers need to keep accurate pitch and be able to sing harmonies (and are welcome to contribute to making up the harmonies). Instrumentalists need to be able to improvise based on a chord progression.  The songs are chosen based on popular demand and the ensemble spends time arranging the songs for performances. The Music Night Concerts are mandatory performances. Other performances could be added throughout the year such as MYART.  The ensemble will also work to creat a music video.

MYART (Musical Youth Articulating Raw Talent)

Directors:  Ms. Merritt, Mr. Rubicini, Mr. Lamont, Mr. Mathers

Students audition to become part of MYART.  Rehearsals are held throughout October and November to prepare for a two-night show.  Performers are mixed and matched with each other throughout the show to display the array of musical talent we have at our school.
