Our student council executive is the Leadership Class. To be part of the student council executive, you must be enrolled in one of our Leadership courses. This year over 180 students are part of our Leadership program!
Who can get involved?
Students in grades 10, 11, or 12 can sign up for IDC 3OX. This class is right for you if you have school spirit, want to develop as a leader, and are interested in organizing school events. This is an open level class that is project based. Most days involve hands-on activities.
Students in grades 11 or 12 can sign up for IDC 4UI (a university level credit!). The prerequisite for this course is IDC 3OX. As the senior leaders in the school, students in this course take their skills and talents to the next level to benefit all aspects of school life.
Examples of Leadership projects:
- Kitchener Klash night football game
- Lunch events (BINGO!… Manic Mondays, Fun Fridays)
- Multicultural Festival
- Relay for Life
- Halloween Dance
- Semi-Formal
- School Assemblies
- Office hours in the Activities Office
- Spirit days
- Holiday Week celebrations
Other Leadership Opportunities
How can I get involved if I’m not in the Leadership class?
Throughout the year opportunities do arise to support school events. We have a google classroom called Huron Leaders that ANYONE interested in volunteering at events can be added to. Speak to the leadership teacher to be added to the classroom.
Senior students are also encouraged to join Husky Pack, our grade 9 mentorship program.
The best way to get involved, however, is to join one of our many school clubs! Many clubs organize and run school events of their own.
