Students can select clothing that reflects their personal taste but are expected to dress in a manner acceptable for learning and the workplace. Distracting, offensive, immodest or unsafe clothing will not be permitted.

Hats and Headwear

Hats may be worn in the school building. Hoods on sweatshirts and jackets must be removed upon entry to the school.

Coats and Jackets

Coats, jackets and outdoor clothing are not to be worn to class. Students are asked to keep these items in their lockers.

Clothing

At Huron Heights Secondary School examples of inappropriate clothing include:

  • clothing with messages/images which are offensive to others, or include references/advertising for drugs or alcohol.
  • jewelry or clothing that have spikes, studs, bullets or heavy chain linkages
  • clothing that has visible undergarments such as bras, bra straps, boxer shorts
  • skirts and shorts of inappropriate length
  • backless tops, string tank tops, or tops with unreasonably low necklines
  • no mid-riffs should be showing

Guidelines

  • Shirts must have sleeves
  • No muscle shirts or sleeveless shirts
  • Shoulder straps should be wider than 2 finger-widths
Students who dress inappropriately for school will be instructed to change into appropriate attire or may be sent home to change. School issued clothing may be provided for those dressed inappropriately.
