Blended learning days allow students to engage in synchronous and asynchronous work from home while staff engage in professional learning during the asynchronous portion of the day.  School administration will engage staff in professional learning opportunities around instructional and assessment strategies that centre students in secondary schools.

During the morning, secondary teachers will engage in Professional Development to support the capacity of teachers to be responsive to student learning needs.

  • Students will have remote asynchronous learning in the morning and short remote synchronous virtual meets for each class in the afternoon.

  • Blended Learning Days are instructional days, so attendance will be taken.

  • A supervised study space will be available in the morning for students who choose an in-person environment at school.

  • In the morning, students will participate in asynchronous learning by logging into their class VLE (Virtual Learning Environment = Brightspace or Google Classroom), and completing the work provided by their teachers for all their courses. In the afternoon, they will be provided a synchronous session for each course to support the work assigned in the morning. Educators will benefit from ideas or advice from school administrators on effective asynchronous and synchronous virtual learning ideas for these BL days.

  • ACE students will attend school with regular programming and following regular attendance procedures, optional OT coverage for ACE teachers will be considered at each site.

  • Transportation will run at regular times.
