In 2007, two high school students from the small community of Cambridge, Nova Scotia witnessed a Grade 9 boy being bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt. That night the students went out and bought 50 shirts for their classmates and encouraged everyone to come to school wearing pink. The next day hundreds of students showed up wearing pink clothes to take a stand against bullying. It was this story that inspired Pink Shirt Day.

Bullying continues to be a major issue at local schools, workplaces, homes, and on the Internet.The Waterloo Region recognizes the problem and is encouraging the community to come together and wear pink on Wednesday February 22nd to show support and stand up against bullying.

All Huskies are encouraged to wear pink, as much pink as you want, on Wednesday February 22nd.
