The Co-Presidents at Huron Heights are the main student ambassadors of our school. They represent the student voice to staff and administration, parents, and the community. They also function as the lead student organizers within the Leadership Class.
To become one of the four candidates, applicants are invited to a mandatory meeting. All applicants must officially register at the meeting – no exceptions! An application package will be provided. Requirements for the application include:
- Nomination by 40 students (10 from each grade) + 5 staff members + 1 campaign manager
- Letter of intent (1 page)
- Involvement profile
- Two staff reference forms
- Attendance record
- Credit/mark profile
- Commitment form
- Parent permission
A point system will be used to narrow the field to four official candidates for election:
- Letter of intent & vision for leadership (10 points)
- Attendance record (10 points – 1 point deducted for each invalid absence or late)
- Credit/mark profile (10 points – 1 point deducted for each mark below 70%)
- Staff references & feedback (20 points)
- Involvement profile (50 points – points awarded for leadership-related activities)
During Election Week, each candidate will promote themselves through a morning announcement, meet the candidates day, a lunch event, and posters around the school.
The election will be held in mid April. Each student and staff member can cast a vote for two candidates.
