Re: Upcoming OSSLT Assessment Spring 2026

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Guardians:

This spring, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will be again offering the computer-based online Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) to Ontario students. The OSSLT measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects based on the Grade 9 curriculum content. Successful completion of this literacy test is one of the compulsory requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Grade 10 Students, currently enrolled in a Grade 10 English (ENG2DI) this semester, will complete Session A of the OSSLT on Monday, March 30th and Session B on Tuesday, March 31st. Each session is designed to be completed in approximately 65-75 minutes, with extra time allowed for all students.

Senior students and any grade 10 students who have not yet fulfilled the literacy requirement will be writing the OSSLT on Thursday, April 9th.

After completing both sessions, students will have a chance to complete a voluntary student questionnaire that asks them about their experiences, attitudes and perceptions with respect to literacy.

An Individual Student Report will be generated for each student after the scoring of the OSSLT. These reports will be available by the end of May 2026. For more information about EQAO and to view the full Practice Test, you are encouraged to visit EQAO’s website at www.eqao.com where a video and infographic are available.

Before the day of the assessment, Grade 10 students will have an opportunity to participate in a Practice Test exercise on Thursday, March 26th, in their English classes, where they have an opportunity to become familiar with the online test environment.

Students can access OSSLT Prep content by accessing the WRDSB Brightspace course, preloaded with all kinds of content to help students get ready for the OSSLT. Students can connect to the HRH OSSLT Preparation 2526 by going to wrdsb.elearningontario.ca and logging in to this course with their school login and password.
