Huron Heights is committed to building a community that is respectful, inclusive and understands the importance of reciprocity. Students in the Alternative Continuum of Education (ACE) program at Huron Heights inspired the broader school community to learn about reciprocity through the co-creation of a mosaic representing cultural understanding and support. In partnership with Indigenous artist Kelsey Powless, classes joined together to create a lasting impression on their school community and develop artwork for the school.
This engaging activity brings together a diverse group of students to foster inclusivity, reciprocity and aligns with the Waterloo Region District School Board’s (WRDSB) commitment to promoting education and understanding about Truth and Reconciliation.
“As Huskies, we all pull together in Truth and Reconciliation,” said Audrey Rozic, WRDSB educator. “If we don’t all pull together, the sled will not move. So in order for us to move forward in Truth and Reconciliation, we all have a part to play.”
