Hello Husky Families,

What a fantastic year we have had so far.  Semester 1 is drawing to a close and with that comes exam and evaluation days. The WRDSB Exam and Evaluation schedule for the end of Semester 1 will occur on January 27, 28, 29 & 30 (secondary school year calendar). Teachers have the flexibility to provide a variety of methods for students to demonstrate their growth, and confirm their learning. Classroom teachers will clearly communicate with their students and their families what the learning expectations are on these days.

There are a few important things to note during this Exam and Evaluation schedule:

  • Busing: school buses run on their regular schedule during these days.  
  • Study Areas: the library will be open for those who wish to engage in quiet study. The cafeteria seating area will also be open for those who need to work collaboratively. 
  • Credit Rescue: any students (of any grade) may be required by their teacher to attend during their scheduled time to finish incomplete evaluations/assessments even if they do not have a class exam or evaluation scheduled.
  • Exams: will only be administered in select grade 11 and 12 courses as determined by the teacher. All exams will be 75 minutes in length. Students will have up to double time (150 minutes) to complete exams.
  • Final Evaluations: all grades may have evaluations that include performance-based tasks, portfolios, demonstrations, projects, interviews, or conferences.
  • ACE Students: will attend school with regular programming.
  • Cafeteria Servery: will be closed during exam & evaluation days (Vending Machines available)
  • PD Day: the school will be closed on January 31.

*In the rare event where a student has classes and scheduled exams/evaluations in both blocks 3 and 4, they can request a change in date ahead of time from their teacher

Inclement weather and school closures can happen anytime, including during exams. If ANY WRDSB Secondary School is closed or school transportation is cancelled due to inclement weather, ALL WRDSB high school exams will move forward by one day.

The January 31st PD Day will not change if there are weather or school closure disruptions.

For example: if Monday, January 27 was an inclement weather day, exams scheduled for Monday, January 27, would occur on Tuesday, January 28, and all subsequent exams would move forward one day.  Exams on Thursday, January 30, would happen on Monday, February 3 (skipping over the January 31st PD Day). Semester 2 would then start on Tuesday, February 4.
