Waterloo County Secondary School Athletics Association (WCSSAA) is excited to announce the start of the Winter sports season will begin on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Secondary students (Grade 9-12) who are interested in participating in a sport are asked to connect with their school’s head of phys-ed for more information.

New for the winter season is the plan to participate in extended play! This means Winter schedules will be designed so teams can potentially compete at Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association (CWOSSA) and/or Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA).

COVID-19 Protocol for Student-Athletes

WCSSAA will continue to offer Rapid Antigen Testing Kits to those student-athletes who are not double vaccinated.

Indoor Spectators

Access to Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) schools is currently only provided to essential visitors who provide direct service to students (registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, settlement workers, etc.).

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the WRDSB will not be allowing any non-essential spectators into indoor sporting events hosted at WRDSB sites. This includes non-coaching school staff, students, family members, media, sports enthusiasts, and community members. Competitions or practices that take place at local recreation facilities will have their own entry requirements.

We understand that watching our students compete is exciting. However, our top priority continues to be student and staff health and safety and well-being.
