Return to School and First Day Staggered Start Update

The excitement is building as we prepare to welcome our students back to school tomorrow!  The school day begins at 8:00 am and ends at 1:40 pm.  The staggered start schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, September 7th: Grade 9’s and 10’s
  • Wednesday, September 8th: Grades 11’s and 12’s 

Due to the staggered start, if you are a grade 11 or 12 student taking a grade 10 course that is scheduled during period 1 or 2 in first semester, you are welcome to join us on Tuesday September 7th as well.  This also applies to a grade 10 student taking a grade 11 course, you can join us again on Wednesday, September 8th.

 

Before Entering the Building

  • Complete the daily Ontario School Screener and Secondary Student Verification each morning before heading to school.  
  • The Screener and Verification Portal are located on the left hand side of our school website homepage.
  • You must wear a face mask and sanitize your hands as you enter the building.
  • The entrance doors will be unlocked at 7:30am. 

 

What doors do I use to enter?

  • WRDSB Transportation Eligible Students (school bus) will enter through the main entrance doors at the front of the school.
  • GRT Bus Students will enter through the Strasburg Road entrance doors.
  • Students who walk, drive or who are dropped off by a parent/guardian will enter through the back parking lot entrance doors.

 

Other Important Information:

  • Period 1 classroom locations have been posted in our cafeteria (surnames A – G) and in our gymnasium (surnames H – Z).  There will be staff there to guide and help you find your first period class location.
  • Regular school bus transportation will be provided for all eligible students on the first day.  
  • Remember to pack a lunch as there is no cafeteria service.
  • Grade 9 students can now view the school video in the Google Classroom
  • For returning students, a reminder that if you have any library books or textbooks from last year, please bring them with you on your first day of classes.

 

Grade 10-12 and New Registrants:

If you are new to Huron Heights or a returning Grade 12 student that returned their Chromebook back in June, you will receive your Chromebook during the first week of school.

Students will be able to log into MyWAY on September 3rd, however, student timetables are under construction and will be distributed on the first day of school.
