Dear WRDSB Families,
As a school board, we believe that the success and well-being of each and every one of our students happens best when there is a nurturing, caring relationship between our educators, students and families. Whether your child is in kindergarten and learning to read, in grade 8 and looking forward to high school, in grade 12 and due to graduate, or anywhere in between, we want you to know that we will support you and them in their learning. As a result, our focus over the next two weeks is to better understand what is needed to support their learning and to ensure our students continue to feel connected and cared for by their teachers.
Each family can expect a call over the next week from one of your child’s teachers. Teachers will be checking in with students and families to say hello and gather some important information about students’ access to technology. This information will assist us in developing a learning plan that will engage all students.
We encourage you to take time this week to familiarize yourself with the Waterloo Region District School Board’s WRDSB@Home portal. Information on this site will be continuously updated. Please subscribe to your school’s website in order to get email notifications.
Parents are key in supporting the learning of their child(ren) but they should not feel like they are required to take on the role of teacher. School staff and parents form a partnership to support student learning. You are not alone in this and we are here for you!
As a school board, we are working to be responsive to the many questions and concerns you have. Please continue to monitor our website as well your child’s school website and email info@wrdsb.ca if you have any questions or comments.
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed.
