Each year the Senior Business Leadership students at Huron Heights Secondary School embark on a hands-on assignment that helps a local family in the community. This year, the class has chosen the Lessard family and will offer them financial assistance by hosting a Charity Auction in their honour.

Colleen and Anthony Lessard live in Kitchener with their 5 children – Paige (13), Lindsay (10), Bryson (9), Lily (6) and Remington (4). Lindsay has epilepsy, ADHD, ASD and is medically fragile. Bryson has educational disabilities and Lily has mild Cerebral Palsy. In 2017, Lindsay underwent risky surgery to reduce her seizures from her brain injury. She requires 24-7 supervision due to her medical and cognitive needs. As such, both parents work opposite shifts to meet her needs and provide for their family.

The funds raised through the Charity Auction will help cover past and present medical expenses for Lindsay. The funds will also cover a respite (short break; time together) for the family – something they have never had the opportunity to enjoy.

The Charity Auction is held in the HHSS library on Thursday, December 6th from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm. Please come out and make a bid to show your support for this family and the tradition that provides an opportunity for our students to demonstrate both their leadership skills and compassion for others!
