To our Huron Heights SS students and families,

I want to address a serious situation involving our school.

On the evening of March 20, staff were made aware of some graffiti inside school property that was threatening in nature and made reference to an act of violence. The message read, “School Shooting March 28! Not a joke. Watch Out.” This threat was reported to the Waterloo Region Police Service and they are currently investigating to determine the author of the message and the motive behind it.

Our staff and student safety and well-being is a top priority and we are working closely with the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

We take any threat of violence very seriously. Words and acts of violence or intimidation are never appropriate and even when said in jest are never funny. Actions or stunts like this will be met with severe consequences to ensure the safety of our school and our students. Our priority is to ensure that our schools remain safe places where students experience a caring learning environment that addresses their well-being.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 4421 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Please feel free to call the Huron Heights Administration at 519-896-2631 with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jeff Klinck, Principal
