Alpha Dogs
This award celebrates exemplary achievement of two graduating Huskies. This auspicious award recognizes their high achievement in their academic studies, participation in the arts, athletics and leadership programs.

Award of Perseverence
This award recognizes a graduate who has persevered through hardships to reach personal goals. Consistent hard work and determination have helped this graduate reach post secondary school and this financial support will make that goal a reality.

Canadian Corps Association Heesaker Scholarship
Strong academic achievement, good citizenship, co-curricular involvement, enrolled in business, accounting, marketing, economics, law or computer studies post secondary.

Carter Family Award
This award is in memory of John William and Jean Hamilton Carter, Huron Heights’ first principal’s parents. To be awarded to an Honour student pursuing post-secondary education who demonstrates good citizenship, participates in school activities and is well respected by staff and students.

CVA Athletic Award
This award is presented to an outstanding ambassador for the school both on and off the playing surface, a leader and role model for team mates, highly regarded by coaches, a proud supporter of Husky athletics and possesses the skill and determination to pursue athletics at the post-secondary level.

Doon Pioneer Park Community Association Award
These graduates were Pioneer Park/Brigadoon residents while attending high school who have an outstanding record of volunteerism during their high school careers. They are currently registered and attending a full time program at college or university.

Dr. B. Mabel Dunham
Highest Female in 6 grade 12 U/M courses
This award is donated by the Canadian Federation of University Women. It is presented to a female secondary student who excels in academics. Sponsored by CFUW-KW Club”

Dustin Picard Memorial Award of Integrity
The winner of this award exemplifies Dustin’s spirit of unfailing friendship, courage to stand up for people, respect for individuality and above all integrity.

Edge Imaging Award
Demonstrates excellence in Photography, Yearbook.

Edna Haviland Chemistry
This award is donated by the Canadian Federation of University Women.  It is presented to a female secondary school student who has attained the highest average in Grade 12 University level Chemistry.  Sponsored by CFUW-KW Club

Excellence in Technology Award
This award is presented to a graduate who has shown proficiency and passion in several areas of the Tech Studies program and who will be entering a trade, apprenticeship or technical college program.

Federal Student Leadership Award
This graduate has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the scholastic programs, within their peer group, in the community or in their home life.

Gold Medal
This medal is awarded to the graduate who has achieved the highest academic standing in their Grade 12 courses at College, University and Work Place levels.

Governor General Academic Bronze Medal
Graduating student grade 12 student with the highest average counting all grade 11 and grade 12 courses

Husky Citizenship Award
The recipients of this award have contributed to the overall enhancement of student life.

Husky School Culture and Leadership Award
This student has demonstrated tremendous leadership through committee work and leads by example to improve the quality of life for all students in the building. This graduate raises awareness to improve the school culture to include all students.

Jean Scott Citizenship Award
This award is named after Jean Scott, an EA, who dedicated her career to supporting students in the classroom and the workplace. The recipient of this award has shown tremendous potential in the workplace.

Karyn Kidd Scholarship Fund
Awarded annually to a graduating female student. Goals to include a career in teaching, has definite financial need and has a strong independent character. Must attend Canadian University.

K-W Kinsmen Award
This award recognizes high academic achievement as well as a strong record of volunteerism.

K-W Record Students of the Year
Two Students are recognized in June for their academic achievement but also for their enthusiasm and participation that made HHSS a better place to be.

L. Stewart Languages Award
The recipient of this award has demonstrated an engagement with learning that surpasses merely acquiring a foreign language. The honoree has instead used language as a passport to develop deeper global perspectives through increased cross-cultural understandings.

Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Award
This award recognizes a graduating student who demonstrates exemplary involvement in the community and who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.

Melinda Vasijile Memorial Award
This award is in memory of Melinda Vasijile. The recipient of this award has demonstrated outstanding dedication and passion for experiential learning opportunities. This student may have overcome previous challenges and has started their journey towards a specific career path. This student has shown growth personally throughout their time in Cooperative Education and has made significant strides to be able to complete their secondary school diploma.

OPC Principal’s Award for Student Leadership
The Ontario Principal’s Council award recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and has achieved excellence in all aspects of school life.

Outstanding Progress
Awarded to a graduate who shown perseverance, determination and have overcome challenges during their high school career that have resulted in both academic and personal success and now heading to post-secondary education.

Sharp Bus Lines Scholarship Program
Designed to further the education of the students in our communities, who are interested in pursuing an education in the field of skilled trades.

Silver Medal
Grade 12 student with the second highest average in six grade 12 U/M courses taken at HHSS must include English University/College/Workplace – top 6 Grade 11 and 12 must include English.

Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club Award
This award recognizes a graduating student who has made a positive contribution to the school and community.

Teaching Promise Award
This award has been established by the teachers of the district to recognize a graduating student who has demonstrated those qualities that best personify the teaching spirt: enthusiasm, patience, hard work, leadership, unselfish service, and an abiding love of learning.  These qualities of character foster the growth of our aspiring citizens ad the renewal of our local communities, as reflected in the defining motto of Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation “Let us not take thought for our separate interests, but let us help one another”.  Sponsored by Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation.

The Integrated Communicator Award University College (English Award)
U- The winner of this award demonstrates strong skills in all four strands of the English curriculum. The student also displays creativity in their learning as well as the ability to use feedback through strong reflective practices.
C- The winner of this award demonstrates strong communication skills as well as a dedicated work ethic. The student also displays a growth mindset as well as engages in learning and fosters a positive and respectiful learning environment.”

Toyota Technical Aptitude Award
The winner of this award has demonstrated a passion for the automotive industry and has a strong aptitude in this technical field of study.

Valedictorian
Each year the graduating class selects a spokesperson to represent their fellow graduating students. The valedictorian will speak on behalf of the graduating class.

Visual Expression Award
This award recognizes a graduating student who has shown exemplary skills in the area of visual arts, digital photography or media in their senior level arts course. He or she is also continuing on in a post- secondary program in the visual arts.

Waterloo County School Bus Operators’ Association Award
The recipient of this award has achieved good academic standing or personal achievement and is attending postsecondary education or apprenticeship. This graduate is held in high regard by teachers and peers.

Zack Valdivia Award
Creative (Zack’s creative hobbies were drama, writing and media arts). Caring, loving, supportive of all peers. Kind to/friendly with Zack.
The Zack Valdivia Award honours Zack’s memory as a Husky lost too soon. Zack was a truly creative soul who was fun, friendly and loving, and supported everyone around him. This award recognizes other creative students who are friendly, kind and supportive of their peers. ”
